The cannabis industry in North American has been on a wild ride in the last 4 years with some saying this could be one of the quietest and fastest-growing industries we’ve seen in decades. On November 3rd, 2020 what some are calling a green wave pushed the number of states allowing legal medical marijuana states up to 36 and at the same time 15 states now allow the consumption and/or retail sale of adult-use cannabis. In the meantime Canada celebrated its two-year anniversary of recreational marijuana legalization just last month.
We are blessed to be involved in an industry with this type of growth. As builders we must be aware that times will not always be this good. When we started Mountain Valley LLC and Cannabis Grow Builders we wanted to be known as Pioneers and Visionaries on multiple levels. Our entire building and project management career has been spent building things in a manner we would want if we were the owner or the resident. That is the only way we work and that won’t change.
I hear stories about legal grow operations spending money foolishly just to get open simply because they have the money right now. The builder promises to circle back once the facility becomes operational and correct the issues that weren’t addressed in the build out. While the promise sounds good the reality is the upgrades seldom if ever really happen. On the rare instance when it does happen the facility will often face extended and unplanned downtime and additional expenses. All of this comes out of someone’s pocket other than the builder. I’ve noticed I’ve never had to apologize for doing it right the first time. If you want to use the build quick today and reinvent later strategy keep this number handy 916-933-7333… You are likely going to need it!
